Cherry Creek desires to see musicians of all styles and competencies fit in to where they might be best used. There are many options available for ensembles and special music, and if you’re interested, please don’t hesitate to call or email the contact.
The Sanctuary Choir is a 60+ voice choir, directed by Ken Cox, which sings weekly in Worship I and occasionally in Worship II. The choir regularly prepares larger amounts of music for the Christmas and Easter seasons, as well as major sacred works in the spring.
Rotating bands of various folk and rock instrumentations who help lead the congregational songs for our 11:00am service. Typically, musicians commit to playing with a band once a month.
Three choirs, overseen and directed by Sally DeFehr: Cherubs (4-5 years), Cantus (1st – 3rd grade), and Choristers (4th-6th grade). These choirs sing every 4-6 weeks in Worship I and Worship II, as well as for larger musical productions during Christmas and in the spring.
A community youth orchestra, for kids grades 1-12, directed by Dr. Douglas Macomber.
CCPC owns a 5-octave handbell set, used regularly in Worship I and Worship II. The Handbell Choir is a great way for musicians of all ages and levels to jump in and make beautiful music.
Seasonally, various instrumentalists gather (e.g. brass ensemble, flute choir) to rehearse special music for worship and other occasions. We furthermore enjoy regularly facilitating the organization and planning for soloists and instrumentalists who desire to offer special music in our worship services. Such music usually takes place in Preludes, Postludes, Offertories, or during Communion. Many have come in the past with music and organized small chamber choirs, women’s and men’s choruses, string ensembles, brass groups, wind ensembles, and other creative arrangements. Our leaders welcome the use of solo and ensemble music in Worship I and Worship II, and we’d be glad to talk with you about the potential of using your gifts!
